The Linksys RE4100W N600 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender is a simultaneous dual-band wireless range extender which allows you to repeat the wireless signal of any access point or router in order to provide Internet connectivity to dead areas through a wireless connection. It also includes an audio port to connect a set of powered speakers. It can be a music playback device which provides playback via DLNA or from Android or Ios using mobile devices.
The device contains buttons and led at the front, side and bottom. The led is at the front gives the information about the power, updating and signal strength.
1. Blinking green- booting the device up, factory reset, update firmware 2. Solid green – ready to use 3. Solid amber - weak connection with the router 4. Blinking amber- not able to establish connection with the router or some other errorAt the side of the device, we have audio port for wireless music playback, a wifi protected setup to securely use and add compatible network to the device and a reset button for resetting back the device if anything mishap ever happened.
At the bottom, we have ethernet port with a led which shows up green colour when ethernet port is connected and blinking green when exchange of data takes place. Ethernet basically connects wired devices with the wireless network of extender.
1- Whenever you setup your extender first-time, you have to place your Linksys Range extender RE4100W near to the router. After set up your extender, you can unplug your extender and move it ,Where you want. 2- You should try to change the locations (alternate location) for the router and extender for reducing signal obstructions.. 3- Avoid placing the router and extender near metal objects, masonry walls, and reflective surfaces such as glass or mirrors, and other electronics that may cause signal interference. 4- you should always remember ,Whenever you use WPS method to connect your extender Then you should not try to make the connection again until the WPS indicator stop blinking.
Do these steps for overcoming the faults : 1- Power cycle Linksys range extender RE4100W 2- You should Place your Linksys range extender Re4100W near to your router. 3- You should check the IP Address of Linksys range extender on your router’s DHCP table and try to ping that IP Address. 4- After connecting your computer to the LAN port of Linksys range extender and try to access it through the default IP Address .After accessing the extender, check the wireless settings. Reset extender and go through setup.
Firstly you should need to verify that your Linksys Range Extender is receiving at least 50% WI-FI signal of your router and is placed midway between your router and the area without Wi-Fi. To check wireless signal of your Linksys Range Extender and access its web-based setup page and click Status > WLAN Statistics > Signal Strength.
This type of problems can happen when you accidentally connect with different wifi networks. You must have your own network for accessing the extender.
Right- click on the wireless icon in the system tray. It may look different in accordance to the version of windows we are using. check for available networks and click to connect. You’ll be prompted to a page where you’ll be required to fill in the password credentials.afterthat click on ok to connect.
click on the wifi icon present at the top of menu bar and then click on the connection which you wish to setup. Click connect and fill in the password credentials then click ok for a secure connection.
